Tour Operators
You have been invited to participate in a study on bird watching tourism. This research is being led by Sharon Harwood, a Doctorate student from Charles Darwin University, in the Northern Territory, Australia. The study aims to increase knowledge about bird watching tourism generally, and to develop and test a community based tourism model in West Papua, Indonesia. The purpose of this survey is to produce findings about the suppliers of bird watching tourism products.

Topics Include:
- The bird watching skill level of your clientele
- Information on your company profile such as the countries visited, length of trips, and size of tour groups
- Your preferences for bird watching site characteristics
- Your perceptions of Papua as a potential bird watching destination
- Some information about you such as age, education, gender, occupation and where you live.
The results will be used to develop an understanding of the suppliers of bird watching tourism products including what they offer in terms of:
- Accommodation, transport and guide services
- The characteristics of their target market
- The application of information and communications technologies
- How important particular site characteristics are in determining a suitable bird watching tourism destination; and
- Tour operator perceptions of West Papua as a destination.
